Below is a short list of websites I frequent often:

Ars Technica I have used as reference material for research and has useful information on what is going on in the tech world. Some articles can be a bit thick with information and can take a few readings to understand.
TechSpot is much lighter to read and just an overview of what is going on in the world and includes articles relating to games and e-sports.
Not for the faint of heart but if you want to know what is going on currently concerning cyberattacks, this is an excellent site.
  • attack.mitre.org
Mitre Corporation maintains an excellent database on Adversarial Tactics, Techniques, and Common Knowledge that is publicly available for anyone that wants to know who are the main players in the respective sectors, their modus operandi, and techniques that you can follow to protect yourself.

Below are books I suggest all to read by Kevin Mitnick

Why Kevin? He was one of the early hackers before hacking was really known and now has written books on how to protect yourself and learn about cybersecurity. (Links will be to the books that are available on Amazon in a wide array of formats.

  • Ghost in the Wires
His autobiography. It is freaky how effective social engineering really is…
  • Art of Deception
A look into the human side of cybersecurity.
  • Art of Intrusion
Interesting look at some real world network intrusions that occurred and his review and advice on how to protect yourself from these types of attacks.
  • Art of Invisibility
A good book if you want to learn how to minimize your digital footprint on the internet.
